REFORM Jersey leader Sam Mézec has confirmed he will be standing for Chief Minister.
In a statement, the Deputy-elect said Reform’s new parliamentary party met for the first time this afternoon and ‘unanimously agreed’ to nominate him for the position.
‘We will publish a full statement on Monday outlining our intentions to form a government and produce a Government Plan, based on the priorities we set out in our “New Deal for Jersey” manifesto,’ he said.
‘We believe that the election result clearly shows that there is widespread public support for positive change. Only Reform Jersey can provide that change,’ he added.
Candidates seeking the top job must obtain at least six nominations and submit their application by 5pm on Monday.
Jersey Liberal Conservatives leader Sir Philip Bailhache and Senator Kristina Moore have also said they intend to compete for the role, while Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham has declined to rule himself in or out.
The JEP understands that at least one newly elected Member is also considering putting himself forward.
