Town roads closed for Liberation Day

MAIN roads in St Helier will be closed for Liberation Day celebrations on Monday, as the Island marks 77 years since the end of the Occupation.

The road closures take place between 8am and 2pm, and include Victoria Avenue, which will be closed from West Park to the underpass. The underpass and tunnel will also be closed to vehicles.

Traffic coming to Snow Hill will be diverted in to La Motte Street, with Snow Hill through to Mulcaster Street closed.

Vehicles wanting to go east and west via town can use St Saviour’s Road.

Other road closures include:

Pier Road from the car park to Mulcaster Street

The Esplanade from the underpass/Gloucester Street to Conway Street

Westpark/Pierson road eastbound

Halkett Place by Waterloo Street, with any traffic in Beresford Street needing to turn right into Halkett Place and exiting via Burrard Street

Castle Street from Sand Street car park to the overpass roundabout. Access to the car park will be from Seaton Place
