FORMER footballer Matt Le Tissier will no longer be a guest speaker at Jersey Bulls’ Gala Dinner on Saturday, the club have confirmed, following a backlash against the controversial pundits’ conspiracy theories on Ukraine and Covid-19.

Mr Le Tissier stepped down from his role as ambassador for Southampton FC, after a backlash against a tweet he shared which spread a conspiracy theory about the killing of Ukrainian civilians.

Since then the Guernseyman has also claimed that some Covid-19 patients were actors and described PCR testing as ‘the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on mankind’.

Jersey Bulls said their booking commitment had been made ‘ahead of recent controversial events which have been well documented’.

In a statement, the club said: ‘This gala dinner will be a highlight at the end of our first full season and we don’t want anything to detract from the wonderful achievements of the club, the players, management, and all our supporters. We have therefore mutually agreed to cancel Matt Le Tissier’s involvement.’
