THE funeral of much-loved Constable of St Saviour Sadie Le Sueur-Rennard took place today, drawing packed houses at the parish church and parish hall plus an audience from further afield through a live streaming.

Mrs Le Sueur-Rennard, who died on 8 April at the age of 76, was laid to rest in a private family burial following the service, which was attended by a large group of family, friends, Island dignitaries, fellow parishioners and States Members.

The wooden oak casket and funeral party entered the church to the strains of Man Bieau P’tit Jerri, or Beautiful Jersey, the song which Mrs Le Sueur-Rennard was renowned for singing on Liberation Day and other special occasions. It featured in instrumental form at the start of the service and again at a later point with Mrs Le Sueur-Rennard singing.

The service featured the hymns All Things Bright and Beautiful and How Great Thou Art, the Spike Milligan poem Smile and a eulogy by St Saviour Chef de Police Steven Laffoley-Edwards.

The address was given by the Rev Martin Evans, rector of St Saviour, and prayers were led by the Rev Tony Morling, minister of Jersey Methodist Church, and the Very Rev Mike Keirle, Dean of Jersey.
