HEALTH and Community Services have ‘not adequately addressed’ concerns about the department’s Health Governance Strategy, according to the Public Accounts Committee.
The PAC has written to the director-general for HCS, Caroline Landon, about her response to recommendations made by the Comptroller and Auditor General, Lynn Pamment, in a report published in September.
Although that report noted that ‘there [had] been some progress in implementing recommendations’ made by the previous Comptroller and Auditor General in 2018, it identified ‘recommendations from 2018, all of which were accepted by the government, that are yet to be implemented’.
Now the PAC has made a formal request for further information from Ms Landon following her response to the latest report which it said did ‘not adequately address’ matters raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
In an open letter ‘requiring further action and clarification’, PAC chairwoman Deputy Inna Gardiner writes: ‘The PAC is concerned as to whether you have committed fully to implementing the C&AG’s recommendations and has therefore decided to seek further clarification on your plans to deliver a “joined-up” Health Governance Strategy that encompasses all health and social-care providers in the Island.’
Deputy Gardiner asks for a detailed response on how the Health Governance Strategy would operate and how the Health Department, other Government of Jersey departments and organisations, and non-governmental health and social-care providers would work together.
Seeking a response on a string of points raised following the C&AG’s report, Deputy Gardiner has asked for a response by 11 January.
