St Brelade restaurant offers reward after alleged burglary

On their Facebook page, Off the Rails restaurant posted that the incident happened at around 1.30am and that The Cabin in the Elephant Park was also targeted.

The post added that ‘seven masked individuals’ scrawled graffiti on the walls – writing ‘ARC WAS HERE’ – and committed ‘mindless criminal damage’ including cutting the cameras and switching off the power ‘defrosting freezers and fridges leaving huge amounts of food perished.

‘They stole tills, ipads and various other items,’ the post alleged. ‘They pulled cupboard doors off and slashed the walls. Most troubling, is that they’ve stolen eight or nine large and extremely sharp professional kitchen knives. We believe these individuals to be a danger to themselves, other young people and the community at large.

‘We are appealing to the community to come forward with any information in connection with this crime and are offering a reward of £500 for any information provided that leads to arrests.

‘This is not what our community is used to, is about or I expect wants to continue.’

A video of the alleged burglary was also posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page. The restaurant, which will be closed for the next few days, is encouraging anyone with any information to either email otr@offtherailsjersey.com or to contact the States police.
