One of the biggest planes to visit Jersey touches down at the Airport

It is the second time an aircraft of this type has landed in Jersey this year. It landed in Guernsey for the first time last week.

After arriving at the Airport the military transport plane used all four engines to reverse back up the runway before taking off again.

Although large, the 53m-long, 16.8m-high aircraft is not the largest plane ever to land in Jersey. This record was set by a British Airways Lockheed TriStar (54m by 16.9m) in 1979.

The RAF has made several visits to the Island since March for pilots to practise their approaches – the procedure used to guide aircraft into the correct path and altitude before landing – as well as their low-level maritime reconnaissance skills.
