No one was injured in the incident, which happened during the afternoon afternoon, and the garage was detached from the main house. It was, however, said to have been badly damaged by the blaze.
In a statement the Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Responding crews were faced with a well-developed fire that had started to spread to all of the garage before crews were able to bring the fire under control using high pressure hose reels and main firefighting jets, both internally and externally.
‘Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to access the garage and remove several gas cylinders before they became involved in the fire. They were then able to concentrate on fully extinguishing the fire using a high pressure hose reel.
‘Thankfully no one was injured in this incident, although the building has suffered significant damage.’
The cause of the fire is now being investigated.
