The cat returned to its home in La Providence on Sunday morning, when its shocked owners noticed the paint on one ear, and then glue on the other.
‘He’d been out overnight, which isn’t unusual, and he sometimes goes quite far so we don’t know exactly where he’d been,’ said the owner, who did not wish to be named.
‘It appeared someone had tried to glue the ear closed. It’s awful that there are people who would do this to an animal.’
The owner said that fortunately she had been able to remove most of the glue, and some of the paint, although traces still remained. She said that the cat did not appear to have been badly affected by the incident and was apparently back to normal.
‘We did call the police and they logged the incident but, unless someone has seen or heard something and comes forward, there may not be much they can do,’ she added.
A spokesperson for the States of Jersey Police confirmed that the incident had been reported and was being investigated.
