A 21-year-old woman had to be cut from the black Honda which smashed into a tree near the Vic in the Valley pub at high speed, firefighters say. She was taken to the Hospital on a spinal board. The driver, a 22-year-old man, suffered what has been described as ‘minor injuries’
Emergency services were called to the scene on Route de l’Aleval at about 7.33pm on Sunday. The road was not re-opened until 02.37am as police investigators scanned the scene.
Two of the other cars involved suffered only minor damage. The drivers and passengers, aged between 17 and 20, did not suffer any injuries.
But the third vehicle suffered major damage after, the Fire and Rescue Service say, it collided with a tree at ‘high speed’.
In a statement posted online, the Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘At 7.33pm the emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Route de l’Aleval in St Peters Valley. Three cars had been involved in the incident, two vehicles suffering minor damage and the occupants received no injuries.
‘The other vehicle suffered major damage when it impacted at high speed with a tree near the side of the road. The driver suffered minor injuries but the passenger was seriously injured and was trapped by the wreckage of the vehicle which had impinged into the passenger compartment on impact. Two ambulance crews attended to the female passenger whilst firefighters worked with hydraulic rescue tools to cut and spread the wreckage away. The passenger was removed from the vehicle on a spinal board and taken to the hospital for treatment.
‘Route de l’Aleval will remain closed for some time while States of Jersey Police carry out investigations into the cause of the collision.’
