Jersey has one of its warmest and sunniest summers on record

A total of 907.2 hours of sunshine were recorded between the start of June and the end of August – well above the long-term average of 764.5 hours. It was the fifth-sunniest summer since records began in 1925.

And the average temperature of 18.3°C made it the equal-sixth-warmest summer since temperature records began in 1894. The long-term average summer temperature is 17.5°C.

Although the summer was not quite as spectacular as the hot and dry holiday season of last year, it did have its moments.

The top temperature of 35.7°C on 23 July was the second-highest ever in Jersey, falling slightly short of the 36°C recorded in August 2003.

July was also the sunniest month on record in Jersey, with 373.9 hours of sun. The summer was also wetter than normal, with 170.8mm of rain falling – compared to a long-term average of 143.8mm.
