‘Go Wild’ for Zoo beer this summer

The ale, which will be produced in partnership with Liberation Brewery, will be called ‘Go Wild’, and will be made with ‘classic British malts, blending European and American hops with a hint of spice and citrus’.

Ten pence from the sale of each bottle will go towards the Trust, which aids in the protection of threatened species.

The beer is available at Jersey Zoo’s shops and cafés and can also be bought at Victor Hugo. It will be on sale in Liberation pubs soon.

Dr Lesley Dickie, chief executive of Durrell, said: ‘We are thrilled to partner with Liberation Brewery to produce this golden ale, which we hope everyone in Jersey and beyond will be drinking this summer to celebrate our 60th anniversary.’

Head brewer at Liberation Brewery, Patrick Dean, was similarly enthused: ‘Liberation Brewery are very proud to have been asked to create a new beer for Durrell Wildlife Conversation Trust and help them celebrate 60 years of saving species from extinction.

“Go Wild” is an easy-drinking golden ale that is perfect to enjoy with barbecues this
summer.’

As well as partnering in the production of the ale, Liberation Brewery have sponsored a gorilla sculpture that will form part of Durrell’s Go Wild Gorillas sculpture trial, which will run from 27 July to 14 October.
