A jury of nine men and three women deliberated for almost six hours before unanimously finding 40-year-old Derek David Allen guilty of rape and indecent assault.
Over the course of the three-day trial jurors heard from the young victim that on the night in question she had gone to the defendant’s flat to have drinks.
She said she only wanted to drink and did not consent to any sexual activity beyond a kiss, which she said she returned for just two seconds before pulling away.
She said that despite the fact she repeatedly said ‘no ‘, Allen proceeded to put his hands in her jeans and then undress her before raping her.
She told the jury she tried ‘not to think’ and just stared at the wardrobe in the room until he stopped and she ‘snapped’, quickly dressing and fleeing immediately to the police station where she reported what happened.
The jurors also saw video footage from the body worn camera of the police officer who first spoke with the distressed teenager roughly an hour after the assault and heard from forensic scientists that the results of their tests were consistent with what the girl claimed happened.
Deputy Bailiff Tim Le Cocq thanked the jury for their work on a difficult case.
Allen will re-appear at Royal Court for a sentencing date to be set.
