Interim chief executive for Ports of Jersey

Interim chief executive for Ports of Jersey

Alan Merry, who is currently the company’s strategy and development director, has taken the position following the departure of Doug Bannister, who left the organisation yesterday.

Mr Merry, who has worked for Ports of Jersey since 2012, will step into the role until Mr Bannister’s successor has been appointed.

Speaking about his interim appointment, Mr Merry said: ‘It is a great shame for both Ports of Jersey and the Island that Doug is moving on, but we all understand why he has made the decision to return to the UK.

‘However, the business is well positioned to continue to grow and develop and I am looking forward to taking on this exciting leadership role and working with the team over the next few months.’

Mr Merry initially joined the organisation to help prepare it for incorporation, before taking on the role of strategy and development director.

He has been responsible for the company’s business improvement programme as well as overseeing significant changes in the passenger terminals and the group’s IT infrastructure.
