Passenger plane diverts to Jersey after suffering ‘technical fault’

Flight BE6342, which was en route from Guernsey to Southampton, made the unscheduled landing after problems were detected with one of the aircraft’s hydraulics systems.

The plane, which had 40 passengers and four crew on board, landed safely.

In a statement, Blue Islands said: ‘The ATR 72 aircraft landed safely and without incident in Jersey and was met by the airport’s emergency services as a precautionary measure as is standard procedure in such instances.

‘Once on stand all passengers disembarked normally. Passengers have been transferred to a Blue Islands dedicated spare aircraft to continue their journey.

‘Blue Islands’ engineers are conducting a full investigation into the cause of the technical fault.

‘The safety of our passengers and crew is Blue Islands’ highest priority and we apologise for the inconvenience experienced.’
