Around 380 kg of potatoes were sold or given away as tasters during the weekend-long event at Maltby Street Market, with a number of the capital’s chefs passing by to sample the seasonal produce.
To help promote the brand, Phipps – the public relations company representing Jersey Royals – flew Christine Hellio of Manor Farm out to London for the event.
She said: ‘Last year, we targeted the supermarkets and the buyers but this year we were more aimed at the chefs and consumers.
‘We had pride of place at the entrance to the market. The standard of food there was just fantastic so it was great to be a part of it.’
The grower, who farms 400 vergées in St Ouen with her husband Didier, added that hundreds of people had passed through the market, near Tower Bridge.
She also said that she had been approached by several nearby independent greengrocers asking how they could get their hands on the potatoes.
‘Sometimes during the day it was actually quite a job to move, there would have been a lot of people who saw the stand.
‘I think it was a really good market to go to – there were lots of chefs going through there and quite a few said they were pleased to see that Jersey Royals were out.’
A second pop-up stall will be erected at the south London market this weekend.
Chef Mark Jordan is to travel to Maltby Street Market on Friday to hold a dinner with Jersey Royals featuring in every dish.
