If elected, 58-year-old Lindsay Ash is pledging to oppose any increase on alcohol duty, unnecessary spending on the new hospital project and would object to further construction on green-zone land in St Clement.
He said: ‘Firstly, I think there should be no more needless spending on the hospital. It has got to be built somewhere.
‘Millions have been spent on it for nothing. I think most people are pretty fed up with the situation.
‘I also think there should be no more building on green-field sites in St Clement. The last two deputies have said they would stop it but have not managed to achieve anything.’
The Millwall FC supporter, whose campaign slogan is ‘Get on the L.Ash’, a reference to both his name and his stance on alcohol duty, would also like to see the Innovation Fund revived but managed more responsibly.
He said: ‘They made a mess of it last time. I do not think we should stop it. It could add a lot of diversity to the Island’s economy.’
