Le Fondré to run for Senator

The politician, who has represented the parish for the past 12½ years, has also announced he will seek a ministerial position if elected.

Deputy Le Fondré’s announcement means that the parish will have two new representatives on the Deputy benches in May, as its other Deputy, Eddie Noel, has already announced he will not seek re-election.

In a statement, Deputy Le Fondré, who has served in several departments, including the Treasury and the former Transport and Technical Services Department, said: ‘As a chartered accountant with significant political experience, I believe I have the skills to continue to work on behalf of Islanders to face the challenges ahead including public sector reform, the ongoing pressures on finances and Brexit.

‘In the context of the medium term, these would be my top priorities, particularly in a ministerial position. It is important that we have sustainable finances in order to maintain the provision of services which support the whole community.’

In recent years, Deputy Le Fondré, who is married with two children, has worked in Scrutiny, most recently as chairman of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel.
