The A-list Islander, who grew up in Vallée des Vaux and visits regularly to see family and friends, watch the Jersey Reds rugby team and as an Ambassador for Durrell Zoo, appeared on the famous couch alongside fellow Mission Impossible stars Tom Cruise, Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson and Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg.
Cavill said that he visited a top-end Jersey garage with his father to treated himself after receiving his first big movie pay-out –which he joked was ‘two or three hundred….pounds.’
The Superman actor said that he had had his eye on an Audi R8 supercar, but his father was browsing in the ‘really expensive’ part of the showroom – which must have been Jacksons in St Peter.
He described how he walked over to his father and ended up buying an Aston Martin DBS – the car driven by James Bond, a role Cavill has been tipped to play.
Joking with the other guests, Cavill said that the car remained in Jersey and that he had had to ban his father from getting behind the wheel after a number of near scrapes.
Asked the same question about their first big pay cheque, Cruise said that he had paid for his sister’s college education, Ferguson revealed that she had bought some high-fashion sun glasses and Pegg told the audience that he had bought a Mazda car.
