Celebration of kindness tomorrow

The Kindness Festival involves more than 20 Island charities and organisations providing an activity to contribute to the family-friendly atmosphere while encouraging others to engage in generous acts for others.

The free event, which is being held between 10 am and 4.30 pm in St Aubin, is organised by Kindness Connects – a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping put people’s compassionate instincts into practice to improve societal behaviour.

Brian Clarke, a life coach and founder of Kindness Connects, said: ‘Kindness is an essential part of creating the good society right here in Jersey. Making it part of our lives can be as simple as going through each day with a smile on your face – and of course performing an act of kindness to anyone you meet.

‘The latest neuroscientific research also shows that performing a kindness is not only good for the person receiving it – but acts as a stress-buster for the person giving the kindness as well. That’s why this year we are launching the Kindness Day Challenge to encourage Jersey folk to go one step further than performing spontaneous acts of kindness and also to plan a deliberate kindness as an individual or by forming a group of neighbours and other like-minded people.’

All donations collected at the Kindness Festival will be shared between the charities that take part. The activities on offer include quizzes and games, origami sessions and photo opportunities on a Harley-Davidson motorbike.
