The woman was walking down Poonah Road at 2 pm last Sunday when the man approached her from behind and grabbed the red leather bag. He then ran towards Hampshire Gardens.
The bag, which had short handles and no shoulder strap, contained a number of personal items including a phone, work identification and a pink spotted purse.
The thief is described as white, about 6 ft tall and aged in his mid-20s. He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark cap and light-coloured trainers.
