This year anyone entering the popular food festival held in the People’s Park had to pay a £1 entrance fee. The festival, which has been running for more than 40 years, opened on Thursday and finished at 11 pm yesterday.
Although hundreds of people attended the five-day event stall-holder and businessman Manuel Alfonso said his profits were down by 30 per cent this year.
But one of the organisers of the event, Carlos Nunes, said they cannot continue holding the event if they do not charge a small fee.
