Sarah Groves (24) was found dead on the boat in Kashmir in April 2013. Dutch national Richard de Wit denies murder and this week claimed he was being framed by the police.
The trial in Srinagar has been dogged by setbacks, including witnesses failing to turn up to court and the defendant repeatedly sacking his lawyers.
This week’s evidence was the first to be heard since September 2015.
During the hearing the court heard from Dr Manzoor-ul-Haq, a member of the medical team that conducted the post mortem examination.
He confirmed the number of stab wounds, and a copy of his report was submitted to the court.
Prosecutors also claimed that Mr de Wit had purchased a knife identical to the one allegedly used in the attack just two days before the killing.
In a departure from previous protocol, the defendant was granted permission to cross-examine the witness.
He challenged the post mortem examination report and reiterated that he ‘was being framed by the local police’.
