The plane has just passed Cherbourg while en route from Madrid to Gatwick on Wednesday morning when it changed course for the Island. It landed at 7.40 am.
A 60-year-old Spanish woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and was discharged shortly before 1 pm.
In a statement, an easyJet spokesman said: ‘easyJet can confirm that flight EZY8274 from Madrid to London Gatwick on 26 April diverted to Jersey due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.
‘The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority.
‘Paramedics attended the aircraft and the passenger was transferred to a local hospital. The aircraft then continued on to Gatwick.
‘We apologise for any inconvenience experienced due to the diversion and resulting delay.’
