Treasury Minister Alan Maclean confirmed that he would hold a Members’ briefing before the debate to outline his proposals which would see the States borrow up to £400 million with the rest being covered by money from the Strategic Reserve.
The hospital project, which is set to cost in the region of £466 million, will be the largest capital project in the Island’s history.
Alternative funding proposals from the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel have been lodged. Senator Maclean said that Members needed more time to analyse the 111-page report put forward by the panel.
The debate will now be held at the next States sitting on Tuesday 2 May.
The move to delay the debate was approved by 44 votes to three with one abstention.
