David Mallett (65) was told by a judge in Guernsey’s Royal Court that his crimes had been wicked.

The first dated from the 1970s when the woman was a child. The offences were committed at various locations around Guernsey.

The woman had first complained to police about Mallett in 1996, but later dropped the allegation.

She said that was because the defendant and another person had made threats against her and put her under pressure to withdraw it. Mallett denied the charges but was convicted after a trial earlier this year.

Advocate Liam Roffey said his client was a man of previous good character who would find life in prison difficult.
