At yesterday’s Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel meeting, Senator Alan Maclean said that the number of Island banks offering loans had reduced from three to one and that the only one currently offering loans was reluctant to increase the amount they lent.
NatWest offers loan of up to £1,500 a year. The average cost of a three-year UK university course, including accommodation and maintenance fees, is around £40,000.
