Free wi-fi around world for JT fibre customers
JT's fibre broadband customers will be able to have access to millions of free wi-fi hotspots around the world through a partnership forged with a global wireless network provider.
The States-owned telecoms company has joined forces with Fon – the world's largest Wi-Fi network – whose members get free online access around the world in return for sharing some of their bandwidth at home.
Users can connect for free where there is Fon coverage, with the company stating it hosts 20 million wi-fi hotspots around the globe including millions in France and more than 500,000 in London.
Fon creates a separate secure wi-fi signal from each user's supply that is suitable for light internet browsing and checking emails.
JT is in the process of contacting customers about the new scheme.
