St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft is working with the parish’s Roads Committee and the States police on plans to introduce a ban that would allow the authorities to confiscate alcohol from people in any town park.
Mr Crowcroft believes that such a move would reduce the amount of time police spend responding to incidents in the parks, particularly Parade Gardens.
Between 2011 and 2015 a total of 186 arrests for violence and disorder were made in Parade Gardens. The problems peaked in 2014, when 51 arrests were made.
