Graham Le Lay, who travelled to Brittany last month with representatives of the States, said that although he was impressed by the way the machine worked, the size was ‘simply too big for Jersey’.
A scaled-down version could be perfect, he added.
‘There are miles of beaches in Brittany but it’s not the same for us. The beaches it would be used on here are much smaller. We would look at doing something similar but maybe with a tractor and trailer alongside collecting the sea lettuce.’
