SEB rejects criticism of the hospital

In a long-running employment dispute, Dr Amar Alwitry claimed that his job offer from the Ophthalmology Department was rescinded in 2012 because he raised concerns about patient safety relating to his work schedule.

He also claimed that his refusal to join clinical director Richard Downes in private practice had contributed to his contract being cancelled.

And in a report published last week, the States Complaints Board said that the treatment of Dr Alwitry had been ‘appallingly shabby’ and the contract termination unlawful.
