Ministers to view sea-lettuce machine

Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel, Environment Minister Steve Luce and officers from their departments are due to inspect a machine designed to harvest the sea lettuce then visit a factory which processes the algae for use in fertiliser.

Deputy Noel said that the machine, designed by French company B2MH, was priced at around £500,000 and could cost around £100,000 a year to run.

He said: ‘It is a worldwide issue. We do not have the expertise in the Island to deal with it completely but we can try and alleviate the issue.
