One company said that although they had seen a 20 per cent increase in pre-bookings, walk-in takings have been down by around 80 per cent.
Another had so far seen their summer season takings fall by around 75 per cent, compared with the same period last year.
After last month was revealed to be the fifth dullest June on record, one café owner said that she could not remember a worse start to the season.
