Park want dome for a planetarium

Earlier this year Islanders were asked to help find a home for the dome – a giant golf ball-like structure at La Moye which was used for 25 years before being decommissioned this week.

The Met Office and Infrastructure Department received 20 inquiries and seven formal applications.

Tamba Park in St Mary was chosen as the winner – and now plans to use the 22-ft wide by 17.7-ft tall structure to educate visitors about planets and climate change. Work to dismantle the dome was due to start today.
