Mr Henwood – also a former chief executive of Channel Television, founder member of Jersey Finance and former chairman of the Tourism Shadow Board – is the second recipient of the accolade since the annual awards started eight years ago.
In his acceptance speech Mr Henwood said the Island needed leaders of stature ‘in so many areas’ and he said it was evident that some States ministers, Members and officers were ‘hopelessly, irredeemably out of their depth, simply not big enough to cope with the challenges they face’.
The event hosted by broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth was held at the Hotel de France.
