Filming of States may start soon

Jersey Property Holdings has applied for planning permission to have three video cameras set up in the States Chamber after politicians last year voted to approve proposals to record meetings – the project was proposed by the Privileges and Procedures Committee last year and Members voted 31 to 13 in favour of the scheme.

It is hoped the move will give Islanders greater access to the sittings in which decisions are made on the public’s behalf.

Under the plans, the footage is due to be streamed live online when the Assembly is in session, with the recordings also being stored so viewers can access them at a later date.
