Guernsey, unlike Jersey, does not have a legally binding operating agreement with Condor, but its government has recently faced pressure to introduce one to increase its ability to hold the ferry operator to account.
Condor has been plagued with problems during the last 12 months, with its flagship £50 million Liberation fast ferry suffering a number of technical issues.
The problems have led Jersey’s Economic Development Minister, Lyndon Farnham, to bring forward a scheduled review of the operator’s services, which will cost Jersey and Guernsey £50,000 each, from 2017 to this year.
