During the third day of the teenagers’ trial Crown Advocate Howard Sharp said it was admitted that four out of five of the defendants did not answer police questions when prompted on Sunday 5 July – the day Mr Huelin died.

And when recalled for interview in November and December the boys, who cannot be named because they are all under 18, again answered police questions with ‘no comment’ – a fifth defendant did give police an account of what he believed happened which included moving Mr Huelin onto the road.

The Crown’s case is that the defendants worked together to move Mr Huelin from the garage of a home where they had stayed the night before and onto the road to prevent police searching the home where one defendant had a stash of class A drugs and child pornography – it is accepted that Mr Huelin died as a result of consuming a cocktail of illegal and prescription drugs including morphine.

All of the defendants deny charges of perverting the course of justice by moving Mr Huelin and one of them also denies possessing the class A drugs MDMA and LSD, importing the class C drug etizolam and possessing four indecent images of children.

The trial continues.
