Jersey ‘getting better’ when under pressure handling challenges

Overall, when economic, social, infrastructure and demographic factors are considered, the Island Vulnerability Factors document ranks the Isle of Man as the least vulnerable of the Crown Dependencies, with Jersey second and Guernsey the most vulnerable.

Jersey ranks highly for resilience – its ability to withstand or recover quickly from challenges – when it comes to law and order and government funding, and is low-risk in terms of the effects of climate change and energy supply.

However, Jersey’s vulnerability is described as most at risk by what the report calls high unit costs, which include the cost of living, the cost of travel to and from the Island and the cost of setting up a business locally – that factor has a vulnerability rating of 5, the most vulnerable on the scale used by the researchers.
