VIDEO: Durrell’s new arrival is healthy and in fine voice

Staff there say that although the two-month-old Andean cub – the first healthy bear to be born at the wildlife park for 20 years – spends a lot of time cuddled up to its mother Bahia, it is growing well and has started to play with her.

The sex of the bear will not be known until April or May.

Five-year-old Bahia, who gave birth to the cub on 3 January, is currently nursing her new offspring in a specially constructed den equipped with high-definition infra-red cameras, which enable keepers to monitor the pair’s progress.
