Call and Check scheme to be trialled in three other countries

The Call and Check service, which was put forward as an idea by Jersey Post employee Joe Dickinson, is due to be piloted in Finland, Iceland and Ireland in the coming months, following the success of the scheme in Jersey.

The service, which involves postal workers visiting elderly Islanders along their route to make sure they are safe and well, was launched in November 2013 in St Brelade, and has since been trialled in St Peter and St Ouen.

Mr Dickinson said that Jersey Post were discussing with the States about expanding the scheme across the whole Island, however it is not known when a decision will be made.
