Plan to supply supermarkets with ready-to-cook local veg

Charlie Gallichan from Woodside Farms is behind a Jersey-led initiative to fill the gap left when Amal-Grow, which supplied locally grown vegetables, announced it would be closing last year.

The Trinity farmer said that shopping habits are changing and he now wants to meet the demand for prepared vegetables which is currently met by imported produce.

Next month he plans to ask local supermarkets to trial packs of peeled potatoes and then if that proves successful, to offer more read-to-cook options.
