Police sniffer dog has flying start to career after suspected drugs find

Drug detection dog Jack, a two-year-old springer spaniel, was called to a job along with his handler, PC Dave Bisson, straight after getting off the ferry following a six-week training programme with Surrey police.

PC Bisson said that he took Jack, who joined the force along with fellow springer spaniel Meg earlier this month, to police headquarters to ‘show him off’, but he then got a call from a sergeant about the search of a property in St Helier.

‘We went to the house and set the dog up in the first room, which was a kitchen, and within 30 seconds he was up on his two back legs with his nose stuck in a biscuit tin – and inside there were two sizeable blocks of what we believe is cannabis resin,’ PC Bisson explained.
