The Bosdet Foundation, which has run summer watersports in the pool since it was refurbished with public money just two years ago, says trying to organise activities there is a waste of time and money until the sea lettuce problem is tackled.
In all, £315,000 of taxpayers’ and St Helier ratepayers’ money was spent on the refurbishment, but the sea lettuce which blights St Aubin’s Bay each summer has hampered the project since the outset and left the pool unusable on many occasions.
With no solution to the problem on the horizon and after a particularly bad summer last year, Bosdet has pulled out, leaving no-one to run formal activities for locals and tourists.
