Increase in demand leaves family-support charity short

Brighter Futures, which has been given nearly £14,000 by the States to cover a shortfall in its finances, says that it is unable to expand because it does not have sustainable funding.

The charity, which supports children, young people and families, particularly in times of difficulty and costs around £500,000 a year to run, said that it had a ‘small shortfall’ in 2014 but managed to raise sufficient funds last year.

As part of its outgoings, Brighter Futures pays the States £21,000 for its facilities at The Bridge.
