Butterflies flourish in Jersey under successful monitoring scheme

Species such as the Grayling and Green Hairstreak have done particularly well, according to the Environment Department. They have enjoyed a 458 per cent and 48 per cent increase in population respectively between 2004 and 2014, according to recent data.

The department says a combination of community service volunteers, schools, companies and individuals have donated thousands of hours of their time to help manage and protect habitats at Noirmont, Portelet, Gorselands near Corbière Lighthouse and Ouaisné.
