Sniffer dogs Jack and Meg are being trained to join the force to help combat the Island’s drug problem following an Islandwide drugs review last year.

The two English springer spaniels are currently being trained in the UK, alongside dog handler PC Richie Vinen, who has been paired with 18-month-old Meg. Jack’s handler, PC Dave Bisson, will join the course in a few weeks.

The six-week training course involves the dog being rewarded with a toy, praise or food or combinations of all three when it encounters the target scent.
