JDC’s actions have led to more people joining finance centre protest group, says former politician

The St Helier Waterfront Action Group, which formed to represent the public on development matters related to the area, say they have been approached by a range of people who oppose the Jersey Development Company’s latest move.

This week it emerged that the States-owned organisation had submitted a new planning application, at a cost of more than £100,000, for building five of the Jersey International Finance Centre.

Lee Henry, the managing director of the JDC, this week said that the company was attempting to secure an alternative route for their flagship office project in order to avoid the delays associated with the appeal, which could be determined next month.

However, Sean Power, a former politician and co-founder of the action group, said the decision had led to a boost in the group’s membership.
