Commodore Clipper damaged in rough seas – Friday’s sailings facing disruption

A ventilation cowl on the forward deck of the vessel was damaged during a crossing from Portsmouth and the vessel had to alter its course to enable repairs to be made.

In a statement, Condor said that repairs have now been carried out.

Due to tidal restrictions in Jersey, the vessel is now due to call into Guernsey first and then on to the Island. Friday’s sailing are now facing disruption.

The operator said: ‘As a result of international regulations relating to crew hours of rest, on arrival in Jersey the ship will discharge passengers and freight and remain in Jersey until 7.05 pm on Friday when she is scheduled to depart north to Guernsey and Portsmouth.’

Passengers on board the ship have been kept informed of the problems and provided with refreshments.

It is the latest setback for Condor, which recently sent its £50 million fast ferry, Liberation, into dry dock after it was damaged while berthed in Poole Harbour.
