Businessman looking to build ‘Crystal Maze’ at Fort Regent

Roger Le Maistre, who has set up Fort Adventures Ltd and will take over running the Playzone area in February, wants to draw new customers to the leisure centre and is hoping to establish up to six adventure escape rooms for people of all ages.

Escape rooms, which are growing in popularity in the USA, involve groups of people being locked in a room and having to solve a series of puzzles and find clues to escape within a set time limit.

Themes under consideration for the rooms include a serial killer on the loose, a prison break, an alchemist’s laboratory and an adventure similar to The Crystal Maze, where team members enter a room and attempt to solve puzzles in return for a crystal.

Mr Le Maistre is also looking into installing a climbing wall and a mini electric buggy course around the children’s Playzone.
